The Tanking Economy

Goodness. I'm getting so sick and tired of hearing the Autoworkers and the CAW (union responsible for the Canadian Autoworkers') bitching and moaning and groaning about cutting back their benefits... it's like these people are dumb. They just don't get it. Either take a pay cut, or get fired!

These companies are on the brink of going bankrupt and they're still trying to suck the last drop from them, instead of helping them stay in business and potentially become profitable again. This just again gets added into my book to the "why i cannot stand unions" argument. These middle-people (union managers/negotiators) get paid from workers and company's pockets for doing some talking, but mostly just wasting a lot of time. (sorry tina, i'm really not a supporter of unions, and doubt i'll ever see the other side).

I say let the car companies go into ch11 bankruptcy protection, fire all the employees that are not necessary as part of the restructuring process (all manufacturing) disband the union (complete waste of time and air), then once the company is pieced back together, hire the manufacturing workers back... without the union this time. That should bring the cost structure back in line. and Yes, the economy is going to suffer in the short run with these transactions, but better take the pain now than let it drag on for another decade...

Very true... better to take the shots of pain now, but sometimes those furlough days drive me nuts!
